Why they are different products

Replika is built around one companion who is a friend first. The manifesto, the research pages and the wellbeing framing are the point. Swipey AI is built around creating a girlfriend to your specification and then living in a product that keeps giving you things to do with her: quests, a 7-day streak, level-ups with three-card reward drops, Group Chat, live Duels with other viewers, and a Feed of characters and real creators. One is a diary that talks back. The other is a world. The creation step shows the difference in miniature. On Replika you name one companion, pick an avatar and dress it. On Swipey you choose realistic or anime, body type, hair, eyes, skin tone and outfit, then a personality mix (flirty, dominant, shy, intellectual, nurturing or any combination), a voice, and since August 2026 kink, location and scenario steps. Memory

Both treat memory as central. Replika's has been a headline feature for years. Swipey's edge is making it visible: Memory cards in chat, a Memory Details view, and a summary card after every voice call so calls feed the same memory. One caveat applies to both. Swipey describes continuity "across days and weeks", and neither product should be expected to recall everything forever.

The adult question

This is the clearest dividing line. Swipey is purpose-built for adult interaction ("No content filters, no topic restrictions, no watered-down responses") with a hard moderation floor and 18+ enforcement, including full age verification for UK users. Replika has moved toward a wellness-first, SFW-leaning experience. If you want the former, Replika will frustrate you. If you want the latter, Swipey is not designed for you. Social and live

Replika is you and your Replika. Swipey adds other people: a Feed, Verified Creator Models with Fanclubs, an official Discord, Group Chat with two or three characters at once, a Creator Community (live since 23 September 2026) where Premium members publish their own characters and gain followers, and Live Fantasy Duels, now running in several rooms at once, where viewers gift hearts to decide what happens next and the top supporter is taken into a private live. Swipey has a permanent free tier (create your AI, basic chat, browse the Feed), Premium at $7.99 a month that you cancel yourself from Settings, then Subscription, and hearts, a reward currency you earn through quests, a 7-day streak and level-ups, or buy in the app. Premium includes hearts every day, one Fanclub subscription and 24/7 support, and anyone can reach the team at hello@swipey.ai. Both products run in a browser, but Swipey has no app-store app at all and instead offers an Install App banner for a home-screen shortcut, with email, Google or magic-link sign-in.
